Make an heirloom piece your own by imprinting a keepsake item, creating a unique form or setting a gemstone – perhaps a loose gem or an inherited beauty stuck in an ugly setting?

In this two-part masterclass, you will design and create a simple ring or pendant learning the ancient technique of lost wax casting. Guided sessions with multiple demonstrations throughout, will help you bring your designs to life.

During the first session we will make our ring/pendant model and try out various wax carving techniques: creating form and texture through building up, carving, sawing, filing, piercing, and sizing your ring/pendant, and then preparing it for casting. You can design, experiment, play and create with the wax until you get your piece just right. After the first class your finished wax will then be taken off-site and cast into sterling silver.

In the second session we will learn how to properly clean and polish your casting, from removing the sprue, to filing, to sanding and finishing. Best of all, this workshop will set you up with the skills to continue this process of making at home

*Cost includes access to basic materials, tools and your own sterling silver ring/pendant. Please note, complex and bulky designs may incur an extra fee if more than 15grams in weight.

**Options available to gold-plate your finished castings / source and set-stones. This is calculated on an individual basis and can be discussed with Nadine once you have enrolled.

***Full amount payable upon booking to secure your place.

**** This class requires a minimum of four people to run. In the unlikely event that the class doesn't reach this minimum number 24 hours before the class commencement, you will have the option for either a full refund or a choice of another workshop date / time.
