Make your own heirloom jewellery with Master jeweler, Nadine Treister. Nadine studied Interior Design at RMIT University, completing her degree with Honours. After working in the industry across commercial and residential design, she followed her creative passion into the world of jewellery. Nadine completed her Diploma of Engineering Technology at NMIT. Her prolific designs have showcased both locally and internationally. Her clientele are collectors and individuals who appreciate unique and bold designs.

In this intimate two-part Masterclass located in the heart of Brunswick, you will design and create a simple ring or pendant through learning the ancient technique of lost wax casting. The session is guided, with multiple demonstrations throughout. The aim for the class will be to help you bring your designs to life. As a university lecturer, Nadine has exceptional communication and teaching skills, catering to your individual needs.

This workshop will run for four hours, over two consecutive weekends.

In the first session, you will learn and test out various wax carving techniques: creating form and texture through building up, carving, sawing, filing, piercing, and sizing your ring/pendant. Your piece will then be taken off-site and cast into sterling silver (or your desired metal).

In the second session we will learn how to properly clean and polish your casting, from removing the sprue, to filing, to sanding and finishing. Best of all, this workshop will set you up with the skills to continue this process of making at home

Cost includes access to basic materials, tools and your own sterling silver ring/pendant. Please note, complex and bulky designs may incur an extra fee if your piece is more than 15 grams in weight.

You will have an option to choose your desired metal on the day, aside from silver (which is included in the price of the workshop). Additional costs will be quoted for 9k gold, 18k gold, and platinum. These prices are calculated on an individual basis and can be discussed with me once you have enrolled.

Nadine is an avid collector of gemstones, a selection of which will be available for you to purchase and include in your design on the day.

If you wish to use your own gemstone/s to incorporate into your design, it is vital that you please let Nadine know upon enrollment so she can discuss possible design options that will be suited to the cut and size of your gemstone/s.
